Since this this article was
written Musicator 4 has been released and updated with DirectX plugin support.
While Musicator is still a great sequencer its small development team has not
kept up with changes in the industry (such as VST and VSTi support) as rapidly
other front running packages. Therefore I am shifting my coverage to software
that is more current with the industry. However, depending on your needs, you
may still find Musicator 4 to be your perfect solution. It is certainly worth a
Musicator Win 3.08 is a MIDI and digital audio sequencer which has
recently added the option for DSP Factory support for an additional fee. Musicator is one
of the few MIDI sequencers that handles notation well without being overly complex. While
it has a competitive feature set it maintains an easy to use interface. This is why I
often recommend Musicator Win to people who are established musicians who rely on music
notation but are new to MIDI and digital audio sequencing.
